After the confirmed developments over the inception of IIM Visakhapatnam, coveted Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Tirupati has finally been sanctioned by the centre. IIT Tirupati will be mentored by IIT Madras till the administration goes self sustained. The first batch of 120 students this year will offer courses in B.Tech into streams of Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Mechanical, with 30 seats in each branch.
Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IIT will mentor the new campus at Tirupati while Prof K N Satyanarayana has been appointed as Professor in charge. “We have planned and worked extensively over the past 10 months to ensure first batch students get an educational and living experience comparable to that of any existing IIT”, Ramamurthi confirmed.
Ideal location has been identified by the State Government. Till the actual campus is fully constructed and established, temporary premises have been finalized to commence operations with adequate hostel arrangements in place.
Students can opt for IIT Tirupati now while filling their online application forms. Reputed senior faculty have been employed to teach as the permanent campus arrangements are in progress. The quality of education will not be affected.
