Horticulture Show and Mango Festival Begins in Vijayawada

Vijayawada is all set to display the most amazing choices of mangoes, starting today, The AP State government is organizing a two day Horticulture Show and Mango Festival 2016 from May 23 to 25 at Andhra Loyola College here. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has partnered up with the department of Horticulture to organize the event. The first inaugural session of the program began at 9.30 a.m. today.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has inaugurated the festival, in the presence of Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao who also holds the portfolios for Agri-Processing, Marketing & Warehousing, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries.

In the festival, more than 10,000 products would be put on display at the exhibition. The show is also touted to be the biggest exhibition happening for the first time in the new state of Andhra Pradesh. Over 200 exhibitors from across the country are set to participate in the exhibition with specialized pavilions and exclusive farmer interactive sessions.

It has to be remembered that AP stands to be one of the top states in India to have a strong foundation in horticulture. Andhra is also the second largest producer of fruits in India and one of the largest vegetables producing states in the country.

Andhra Pradesh will be building on this advantage to create rapid economic growth to help the farming community, significantly increasing their income and making farming business a strong entity. Exhibits like these would definitely give a podium for the state to showcase the best of its resources to India and the world. All arrangements are being made in a calibrated manner to make the event a grand success.
