CM has released the water from Somasila to Kandaleru Reservoir. Later, he held a review meeting with officials from the irrigation department on the ongoing barrage works.
Mr Naidu inspected the Somasila reservoir project and released water from there to the Kandaleru project on Sunday . This project will help in irrigating nearly eight lakh acres under both the ayacuts this year. Later, the Chief Minister also held review meetings with the officials and inquired about the status on irrigation projects, canals and inflows into various reservoirs.
The CM was accompanied by Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and MLC Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy. He arrived at the Somasila dam and formally opened waters. The heavy rains in the past few days also helped, enabling the Somasila dam storage to reach 54.5 tmcft.
The storage in Kandaleru dam has also increased to 14.5 tmcft, even before it received the water from Somasila.
Speaking on the occasion, CM said that with plenty of waters available now, farmers will not face problems while irrigating their agricultural fields this season. He said the Krishna river waters would be brought to Penna river by undertaking the necessary projects en route.
Mr. Naidu also inspected the flood damage in the areas of Kaluvai, Podalakuru and Nayudupeta.
