When it comes to the crop insurance for farmers, the CM is not taking it lying down. Mr Naidu made it a point to discuss the current situation on the farmer crop insurance. Talking at length on the matter, the CM had instructed the officials to make field visits before submitting reports for payment of crop insurance.
The CM held an elaborate meeting with insurance officials along with other bankers and agriculture officials, and has asked them to come out with a fresh proposal on a fitting insurance scheme that benefits the farmers.
Mr Naidu shared that he would also approach the Centre, for any required action on this front.
He is learnt to have asked the bankers to extend loans to only those farmers who actually take up cultivation of crops.
Later, he also attended a review meeting on Rayalaseema irrigation projects chaired by Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao.
“Last year, we gave water to the Jeedipalli reservoir. We were supposed to take water up to the Gollapalli reservoir by August this year. Had you done that we need not have gone searching for water for drought mitigation activities like rain gun operations,” Mr. Naidu made the officials aware.
