The two humble villages of Andhra Pradesh will now be the torch bearers of end to end solar power utilization. Toorputallu and Pedhamyanavanilanka will be the first two villages to be electrified completely with solar power this year onwards. This is the first of its kind green development initiative coming from the AP State Govt. This is also a part of the PM’s initiative and call for solar power in the nation.
“These will be the first two villages in the country to be run 100 per cent on solar power,” confirmed Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister for Commerce and Industry. Sitharaman has adopted these two villages under the Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY).
A 2 MW solar power plant will be developed by a private entity and the power generated by this plant will be bought by Andhra Pradesh discom APEPDCL. Going by the proposal, the district administration has marked the required land. APEPDCL has given the green signal to buy power from the developer. This solar plant will be completed by August 2016.
