Tenders are now open for the Vijayawada Metro rail corridor. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is now calling in for e tenders in two parts.
The first part of the tender is for design and construction of an elevated viaduct (km 1.338 to km 6.577), five elevated stations at City Cancer Hospital, SRR Government College, Sri Sathya Sai Mandir, Besant Road and Railway Station East side. The total cost estimates at Rs. 314 Cr.
The second part of the tender is for design and construction of an elevated viaduct (km 6.577 to km 12.620), depot connection and six elevated stations at Nidamanuru, Enikepadu, Ramakrishna Weigh Bridge, Prasadampadu, Ramavarappadu Ring and Gunadala. Overall cost for this is pegged at Rs. 390 crore.
Works include architectural finishing, water supply, sanitary installation and drainage works. The deadline for the completion of these works is set at 24 months. DMRC has set November 20th, 3 p.m, as deadline for submission of tenders for both parts as per the notifications hosted on its website.
According to internal sources, out of the two corridors from PNBS to Penamaluru (12 stations) and PNBS to Nidamanur (13 stations), the second project is slightly longer. It covers a total distance of 13.27 kilometres while the first corridor measures 12.76 kilometres. A depot-cum-workshop had been planned stretching over 25 hectares at Nidamanur.
Total cost of PNBS-Nidamanuru corridor including all taxes and land cost is estimated to be at Rs. 3,148 crore, as compared to 2,557 crore of PNBS-Penamaluru corridor.
As stated earlier, both Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam metro rail projects were being entrusted to DMRC keeping in view its track record of implementing similar projects under the guidance of E. Sreedharan, former MD. The present advisor for A.P government will also supervise on the two metro rail projects.
