With momentum for the birth of Amaravati building across the state, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has started a social media campaign to seek support from people across the world.
Given that Amaravati’s foundation laying ceremony on October 22nd is being celebrated as people’s movement, this online campaign calls for people to click a selfie with “Mana Amaravati Mana Rajadhani (My Amaravati My Capital)” written on a white paper or a slate and upload the picture on Facebook or Twitter with hashtag #ManaAmaravati-ManaRajadhani.
“This is an opportunity for enthusiastic youngsters and those who wish to express their love and support for Amaravati. Not everyone can make monetary contribution. So, this is our way of making people participate and express solidarity with the cause,” the Chief Minister quipped.
The campaign is also being endorsed by several stars who have evinced interest in it. Lokesh Nara, general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party too has participated in the campaign and has posted his selfie on Twitter. Even pop singer Smita has taken part in this campaign.
The Government will retweet the pictures from its Twitter account once people start sending them by hashtagging their pictures with #ManaAmaravati-ManaRajadhani.
The government is expecting that this campaign will give everyone a chance to show their support for the people’s capital. Similar online campaign was carried out by the Government of Andhra Pradesh last year during Cyclone Hudhud when they started the Twitter trend #HudhudAP.
