The Sunrise Startup Village at Rishikonda, AP Govt’s brainchild for the local an budding entrepreneurs saw a new light of the day. Five start up units were successfully incubated at the Sunrise Startup Village, launching their products and commencing go live operations.
“The launching of commercial operations after successfully encouraging them to translate their innovative ideas into business ventures is a red letter day in promoting startup culture in the State,” Siddharth Ram, Center Head, Startup Village told the media.
Last September, Andhra Pradesh government signed an MoU with MobMe Wireless Ltd of Kochi Startup Village fame with a sole mission to incubate startups and organize boot camps in educational institutions and promote entrepreneurship among youngsters. Currently, 70 units are at various stages of incubation at the village. Nearly 500 applicants are also in the wait list to get in the line.
Active start ups with running commercial operations at the Startup Village include Red and Black Gaming (3D games), Quick Pebbles (Mobile apps for home repairs), Epic Soft (B2B task manager product platform connecting sales managers and executives), Unihalt (biometric and technology-based product for parents who need safety check on children and attendance management system) and Melon Studios (‘page for promotion’ – a digital marketing tool).
Among these five startups, Quick Pebbles, which offers electricians, plumbers and others through an online app, has already received angel funding of Rs.20 lakh. Other start ups are anticipated to be funded in the due time. The promoters of Quick Pebbles aspire to develop a good clientele in Visakhapatnam, post which they want to replicate their success story in other parts.
