Bikers and motorists at Kurnool will have no more excuses getting away without wearing a helmet. In order to put a strong compliance measures on the road safety and wearing helmet, traffic cops of Kurnool have put a new initiative in place.
CCTV cameras have been installed at 34 important junctions in the city with an aim to nab two-wheeler riders violating rules, specially not wearing a helmet.. Wearing a helmet has been made mandatory from November 1st.
The cops have also flagged off a bike rally to create awareness among people about benefits of wearing head gears yesterday. Ch Srikanth, Superintendent of Police, Prakasam, spoke to the media and said that considerable time had already been given to the motorcyclists to comply with the rules. No further excuses would be entertained after November 1st. “We will not hesitate to impound the errant riders, ” he said.
A Ravikrishna, Superintendent of Police, Kurnool, also flagged off a similar rally that has police personnel wearing helmets at the Konda Reddy Buruju yesterday.
This special rally passed through Raja Vihar Circle, RTC bus stand, Bellary Chowrasta and returned via C Camp. Civilians as well as policemen while riding two-wheelers should mandatorily wear helmets to avert fatal accidents.
Riders should take the necessary precautions, looking at the growing number of road fatalities due to recklessness. To this effect, cops would conduct daily checks across the district and would fine two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets.
Several important police personnel took part in the rally.
