The renowned festival of Vizianagaram Goddess Sri Pydithalli Ammavaru will be celebrated for a month. This year, the festival will be from October 13th to November 11th and the annual main event Sirimanotsavam will be on October 27. The dates were recently confirmed by the EO of Sri Pydithalli Ammavari Devasthanam.
At a press conference on Monday, the officials informed that the festival begins with Mandala Deeksha’ at 9.10 a.m. at Chaduru Gudi on October 2nd. This will be followed by other events such as Panditiri Raata on October 4th and Ardha Mandal Deeksha on October 22. Utsavams like Tholellu Utsav will be on October 26 and the main ritual, Sirimanotsav on October 27th. The officials also said that Teppotsavam will be conducted on November 3rd, Vuyyala Kambala on November 10th, and Chandi Yagam on November 11th.
It was also confirmed that the Devasthanam would be making arrangements for four to five lakh devotees who would be attending the festivities from across the neighboring districts and the states like Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Voluntary organisations will also be roped in for distribution of milk and biscuits to children. The 65-year-old chief priest of the temple, Thallapudi Bhaskara Rao said that he would be mounting the Sirimaanu (ceremonial post) for the eighth time and thanked devotees for providing him the rare honor.
