November is an auspicious month in Puttaparthi’s calender. 23rd of this month marks the birth anniversary of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. However, this year’s anniversary would be a little different, as it denotes the 90th birth anniversary. Grand celebrations are being planned by Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust to celebrate this year’s fete.
Every year, lakhs of pilgrims and devotees visit Puttaparthi to seek divine Baba’s blessings. The devotion has continued with the same intensity even after Baba’s demise. A special birth anniversary fete, that runs from November 18th will see some colorful rendition to the holy place.
For the comfort of the devotees, district administration will supply adequate supply of drinking water through out the celebrations. Other amenities such as clean toilets and sufficient street lighting systems will also be ensured.
“We will be holding the global AkhandaBhajan, an annual event held in consonance by Sai organisations across the world, starting at 6 p.m., on the second Saturday of every November ending exactly 24 hours later,” said Mr R.J. Ratnakar, a member of the SSSCT told the media. The celebrations with begin with austere Rathayatra, where maximum devotees will be taking part.
Around five lakh devotees are expected to visit Puttaparthi during the six days, out of which 10 percent of them will be foreigners.
All arrangements will be made to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to any number of people during the celebrations as part of the Annadaana Program.
