Taking a step further in the fiber optic revolution, AP state government is set to make a hefty purchase that will enhance the lifestyle of households in the state. One million set top boxes will now be bought by the Andhra Pradesh State Government that will enable usage of three in one broad band services.
Proposal has been approved to extend the state government’s guarantee to Rs 300 Cr loan that will be taken from the banks by AP State Fibernet Limited. 1 million set top boxes will be purchased with the funds in the first phase. The cost is said to be likely recovered from the beneficiaries.
AP State Govt keeps the promises of delivering TV, telephone and internet services to 13 million households for a nominal cost of Rs 150 every month. Extensive fiber optic network had been laid across the state to take the digital momentum to the net level.
While the broadband services have kicked off, the state government has also signed MoUs with several vendors and telecom companies to use the fiber optic network while offering their services.
