The much contemplated Obulavaripalle-Krishnapuram port rail connectivity will see a likely completion by December of 2017, as confirmed by Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu.
The status so far projects such a deadline to be achievable. 262 m long first tunnel work has been completed and the second tunnel of 3,063 m is half done. Work seems to be progressing at a fast pace.
The Union Minister Mr Naidu inspected the railway line as well as the tunnel that is undergoing work near Cherlopalle in Kadapah. The Obulavaripalle-Krishnapuram Port Gauge Rail is also known to be his personal goal for a long time.
The project that was sanctioned in the year 2006 went into a slow patch up until 2014, where after it took off pace. The credit goes to the officials and engineers at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited
Budgeted at Rs 47 Cr per every kilometer, work of Rs 1,168 Cr is now complete, out of the sanctioned budget of Rs 1,646 Cr. Furthermore, earth work is said to be complete by February 2017 and the final cement lining is predicted to finish by October of next year.
Obulavaripalle-Krishnapuram port gauge rail will prove to be of a great advantage, contributing to the rail connectivity and development of internal roads.
