It is known that Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao will be stepping down as the head of administration and handing over charge to his successor S.P. Tucker on Saturday. Mr Rao has won many hearts with his balanced approach and professional outlook while on the job. When asked about his experience serving the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Mr Rao replied that he is bound to remember his tenure as a unique and challenging one, considering the circumstances that had prevailed post the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr I Y R Krishna Rao is also the most traveled Chief Secretary, who had been shuttling between common capital Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Mr Rao was operating from both the places, after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had decided to shift to Vijayawada to be closer to the people of the state.
“ But I am quite satisfied with and enjoyed my tenure though the first four to five months were tense due to bifurcation issues and with the Centre not keen to resolve issues firmly as provided under the State Reorganisation Act,” shared Mr .Krishna Rao, while lately interacting with the media.
Carrying an impeccable attitude of speaking his mind, Mr. Krishna Rao’s approach had certainly helped in pushing the government agenda for shifting the administration to Vijayawada.
Though the employees were initially reluctant to move to Vijayawada, Mr. Rao did not allow that kind of doubt to remain longer in their minds. He actively addressed the grievances of employees by taking it up with the Centre, particularly areas such as concern for local status of employees’ children who moved to Vijayawada in view of the Presidential Order.
