Srivari Brahmotsavams began yesterday, welcoming the auspicious time of Durga Navarathrulu in Tirumala. As predicted earlier by the TTD officials, the traffic this year is predicted to reach the heaviest of numbers and even break records. Day one of the Navarathri Brahmotsavams saw a whopping number of pilgrims making their way to Srivari Darshanam. The numbers revealed by TTD for the day one alone are mind blowing.
Approximately 70,363 pilgrims made it count for the final main Darshanam, excluding the ones who were lined up or waiting outside. While the special entry pilgrims alone accounted for 8,247, those who got in via footpath were 17,267 in number!! A total of 41,425 entered via VQC II free Darshan.
The daily collection constituting Hundi, Arjitham and Vagapadi amounted to Rs 1,79,54,164 and change. Number of pilgrims who got tonsured were 40,122 and 2,48, 965 Laddus were issued yesterday.
While these numbers amount to a mere day one of the Navarathri Brahmotsavalu, anxiety is slowly peaking among the TTD officials who are strongly gearing up to tackle the large numbers that will be seen in the coming days. All the arrangements have been made strictly in place, with stern compliance on each and every aspect of monitoring and administration. It remains to be seen as to how the remaining eight days would be on the divine hill of Lord Venkateswara.
