GITAM Students Land International Jobs in 300 Firms

GITAM University of Vizag is going places this year with both national and international placements. The university which is well known for its state of the art campus and top notch curriculum is making waves because of the way the students have grabbed the chunk of jobs in 300 firms this year.

Approximately 2,612 GITAM alumni from the streams of engineering, sciences commerce and management, international business programs were handed over the appointment letters at the Achievers’ Day function that was held at the Shivaji Auditorium on the university campus yesterday.

A total of 300 companies visited GITAM University campuses this time. The companies have approached all the GITAM campuses located at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Karnataka for recruiting the students. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) alone is said to have recruited 755 engineering students from the GITAM Visakhapatnam campus.

Anirudh, one of the University engineering final year students, has been recruited by the German Company,  UniTech Transfer GmbH – German centre for automation and robotics with a whopping pay package of Rs25 lakh p.a. This is the very first international placement this academic year. Anirudh hails from Srikakulam district. Varsity Chancellor Prof K. Ramakrishna Rao said they want to see more entrepreneurs in the future coming out of GITAM than the job seekers.

The VC was overwhelmed to see the happiness on the faces of the students and their parents. He implored the students to inspire the society following the lead of the great Mahatma Gandhi.

More plans ahead

VC, Mr Rao said that the University is planning to establish incubation centers in the three GITAM campuses to encourage students to initiate startups in the coming years.
