With Andhra Pradesh making visible improvements in the Swachh Andhra Pradesh initiative, the State Government is taking up an intensive cleanliness campaign from October 2nd to 8th, marking one year of the flagship Swachh Bharat Mission.
Setting a target of becoming open-defecation free and litter-free state, the government, through this campaign, aims to create awareness and mobilize support from people to make their own villages/towns/wards better, cleaner and brighter and inculcate a sense of social responsibility among them.
“We need to care about the future of your villages/towns. The idea of this program is to teach people about their responsibility towards society and work on green and sustainable living. This is a people’s movement, a movement through which we can make our surroundings cleaner and healthier,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said.
Beginning with October 2nd, “My city/town/village Sanitation Drive” will start with Swachh Bharat Mission Pledge by the Chief Minister at 9 am in Guntur.
This will be followed by a rally which will split into four groups to to cover major colonies in the city/town/village. Later, a series of interactions with beneficiaries including district collectors to mandal and village-level officers.
On October 3rd, the theme of the campaign is ‘Clean House” where people will be asked to keep their premises like houses, office, schools, colleges, etc. Later, inspections will be carried out by elected representatives and officers.
For October 4th, the theme is “Clean Streets” where people will participate in cleaning roads in their areas. Later, inspections will be carried out by elected representatives and officers.
On October 5th, the theme is “Clean Parks & Burial Grounds” and October 6th, it is “Clean Toilets” where community toilets, public toilets will be cleaned. Areas will be inspected to check open-defecation.
For October 7th, “Clean Drains” where drains will be cleaned in their respective cities/towns/villages.
On October 8th, the final day of the campaign, “My Clean City/Town/Village” where posters and banners will be removed and cleaning of walls will take place.
