CM N Chandrababu Naidu did not overlook the pending matter about AIIMS and followed up with his officials to write a letter to the Centre in order to speed up sanctions. The CM has directed officials to speed up the process to sanction all permissions to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the next 10 days.
At a review meeting on the progress of AIIMS, which is coming up on the premises of TB Sanatorium in Mangalagiri of Guntur district, at Secretariat, he expressed displeasure over the progress made so far. “It is not on expected lines though the State government handed over land worth Rs. 1,000 crore. Write a letter to the Centre in this regard,” he told officials.
Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas was present during the meeting. Foundation stone for AIIMS was laid in December 2015 after several hiccups. The ceremony had been delayed twice in 2015 owing to land-related issues. Of the 193 acres allotted to it, organisations like NDRF and NID had taken possession of 50 acres and 30 acres, respectively. The government was keen on completing the main blocks by December 2018.
