In a mission to make Andhra Pradesh Tourism a key focus area in the service sector, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu suggested creating eco-tourism parks in each district of the state. With a plan to transform forest lands in the urban areas as biodiversity conservation zones, CM suggested that these zones can be developed into special eco-tourism parks.
A review meeting on tourism was held on Tuesday, where the Chief Minister inquired the status of Hospitality University in Nellore. Highlighting the tourism potential of Kadapa district alone, suggestions were made to develop reservoirs at Gandikota and opening them up for the tourists. This arrangement will not only promote the state tourism, but also increases passenger traffic at Kadapa Airport.
The officials were directed to develop Nagarjuna Sagar, Nagarjunakonda and Buddhist monasteries at Amaravati in Guntur district. Modernization of islands and Bhavani Island in association with the Singapore based companies around Amaravati will attract tourists, the Chief Minister added.
Suggestions were also made to organize a Flamingo festival in Nellore district’s Pulicat and Nelapattu. The viability of the Kakinada-Konaseema project generating a revenue of nearly Rs 300 crore with a sole investment of Rs 100 crore was highlighted.
Officials were also instructed to explore the possibility of organizing safari rides at zoological parks in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati.
For the beach-tourism in Vizag, the Chief Minister said that six beaches in the city can be developed theme-wise. He directed the officials to boost Gundavali Palem and Rushikonda. The status of setting up the Madhurawada Amusement park was discussed.
Officials informed that nearly 10 companies are keen to start water sports at all the state beaches. They also added that 39 areas have been identified to be groomed as beach resorts.
In order to boost the temple-tourism, preparations are underway to organize sound and light shows at places of pilgrimage such as Kanipakam, Srikalahasti, Puttaparthi, Annavaram, Simhachalam etc,
