Heavy rains have brought good news to Andhra. However, drought stricken parts of Anantapur look on to better tidings. The CM made it a point to give out a personal assurance on this front.
On the second day of his three-day visit to drought-stricken Anantapur district, CM Sri N Chandrababu Naidu made it a point to interact with the farmers there. He was there to review the new rain gun operations. The CM made time and shared plans with the farmers. He said that tanks in the district would be filled with water from the HNSS project.
There was a positive response to several requests that were made by the farmers. CM was in a public meeting at Veerapuram in Gummagatta mandal yesterday (31 Aug 2016).
The farmers made good use of the opportunity given to them. They shared their woes with the CM, and said that groundwater levels will greatly improve if the tank near their village is filled. CM listened to them patiently and assured them of the necessary action that will be taken. He also inquired about the condition of the crop.
He also called some of the farmers to the stage and asked them if they had dug a farm pond and whether they ever thought that providing a wetting to their fields. Some of the farmers replied in an affirmative and shared their practices.
“I will ensure that crop in every acre of land is saved but you need to believe me and cooperate by digging more farm ponds” CM told the farmer audience.
