Dedicated cycle lanes in the new upcoming city of Amaravati will be eco friendly. Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana confirmed that cycle lanes will be set up for the residents and patrons for their convenience.
Inaugurating the ‘I Ride With India’ campaign at NTR Municipal Stadium, Mr Narayana, who is also a Vice Chairman of the CRDA said that efforts are being made in totality to promote cycle riding in the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh. The plan is in tune with the Capital Master Plan recommendations.
“During our visits to Japan and Singapore, we have noticed that all the major roads have dedicated cycle lanes. We want to make our roads cycling-friendly. Cycling also keeps many diseases away,’’ he said.
The Minister along with Guntur MLA West Modugula Venugopala Reddy cycled all the way to Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hall, a five km ride that covered Lakshmipuram Main Road, Lodge Centre, Sankar Vilas, Rajiv Gandhi statue centre and Collector’s Office.
