Upon his arrival in Singapore at 6:00 PM local time yesterday, Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu met a delegation from Iskandar Medini Development Authority, Malaysia.
The delegation gave a presentation on their experiences in developing Medini Iskandar Malaysia and their efforts in making it Malaysia’s largest single urban development zone till date. For this, they have adopted the principle of demand-driven master planning.
Medini is a greenfield development spanning 2,230 acres designed to become the Central Business District of Iskandar Malaysia.
The Chief Minister said the developmental story of Medini Iskandar Malaysia will serve as a learning experience for Andhra Pradesh in constructing Amaravati as a world-class people’s capital.
During the presentation, the Iskandar delegation briefed the Chief Minister on their key thrust areas such as provision of advanced infrastructure along with creating a plug and play environment for investors. In this regard, they informed the Chief Minister that they have spent nearly $300 million on infrastructure.
As part of developing a media village, Medini Iskandar was able to attract the internationally renowned Pinewood Studios. Along with lifestyle areas, the village also houses international schools, and universities and business parks, the delegation explained.
Meanwhile, the delegation explained effective practices to strengthen Legal framework on land title and transfer, security and crime prevention.
Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, P. Narayana, Advisor (Communications) Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, Special Chief Secretary (Planning) S.P. Tucker, Principal Secretary to CM Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary Finance P.V. Ramesh and other senior officials were present.
