CM launches Nutrition Mission to eliminate malnutrition in AP
With an aim to eliminate malnutrition in Andhra Pradesh in the next 10 years, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the launch of ‘Nutrition Mission’.
“I will be happy if this can be done in five years. We must have clear target to achieve our goal,” he said while addressing a day-long symposium on ‘Child Nutrition: Invest in the first 1,000 days of life’.
The AP Legislative Assembly and the UNICEF jointly organised the symposium to “generate awareness and elicit action” in the state towards elimination of under-nutrition. The event was held on 17 June, 2016.
The Chief Minister said an Assembly Forum (with MLAs) would also be created to discuss the issue and take up awareness programs in each constituency.
“All departments will coordinate their activities and programs, and address the shortfalls so that malnutrition can be abolished in a time-bound manner,” he added.
