CM’s Displeasure Over Polavaram Logistical Delays Puts Pressure on Officials

“Machinery and equipment should arrive at the site as early as possible” CM sounded slightly irked while conveying his observations to the officials. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a virtual inspection on the progress of the Polavaram Project at his residence.

While reviewing the presentation, the Chief Minister observed that the balance plant and machinery equipment has not arrived at the site and expressed his displeasure over it.

Equipment such as penta concrete batching plants, putzmeister 12 Cum Surge Crete, Putzmeister Telebelt, Putzmeister Agitator, concrete trucks, water chilling plants and etc are at various stages of transit. While some of these should have arrived at the site some weeks back it was noted by the Chief Minister that some of the equipment are still at the ports.

The Chief Minister who took stock of the status of each machinery said that officials should give top priority and concentrate on machinery procurement and suggested that monitoring be done regularly.

With regard to radial gates fabrication, the officials informed the Chief Minister that 300 MT of steel is already at site and another 2200 MT of steel will reach the site by 15th April 2017 in a phased manner.

The officials said that,” 1st jig will be completed in 3 days and the 2nd jig will be completed by 20th of March.”
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of spillway concrete works. From 6th February to 12th March, 2,728 lakh cubic meters of spillway concrete works has happened and 6.36 lakh cubic meters of earth work was completed. The balance quantity with regard to spillway earth work is 254.84 lakh cubic meters.
