Ahead of Cyclone Roanu entering AP, CM Sri N Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh to stay safe and indoors, preferably.
In a teleconference with the District Collectors today, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed his officials to take steps in stocking up food & water packets, ahead of the impending Cyclone threat.
He also added that the officials should sound alert to the fishermen and instruct them not to venture out into the sea. “I appeal to everyone to stay safe and indoors, ahead of a Cyclone warning. Do not venture onto the coast. Stock up water & food supplies,” the Chief Minister said.
With the met office predicting Cyclone Roanu getting more severe as a storm, Odisha government has also issued an alert in at least 12 districts and asked the authorities to be prepared at all costs.
The wind speed on the Odisha coast is likely to remain within 100 km per hour. As many as 10 teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and fire service personnel have been asked to be ready for operation, as instructed by the Odisha Government.
Most parts of Tamil Nadu are continuing to receive heavy rains for the third day in a row. The Met department said that the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal would bring heavy rains in north coastal areas of Odisha, AP and Puducherry.
