With a mission to involve citizens and other stakeholders in the major planning of Tirupati Smart City Proposal, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has launched an interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), social media and internet methods. Through these, citizens and social professional groups can contribute their valuable inputs for the prestigious Smart City project for which Tirupati has been assigned a whopping Rs 500 Cr. budget by the Center.
During the phase 1 of the national Smart City Challenge, Kakinada, Vizag and Tirupati were shortlisted for the second round. These three cities will be given the above budget spread out over the next five years towards the progression and development of the respective demographics into a smart city model.
So far, the Municipal corporation has already consulted close to 65,000 citizens through IVRS, and other 10,000 members from select self help groups.
“We are also holding extensive consultations with various social and professional groups like doctors, school teachers, university professors, advocates, tax consultants, TTD employees, journalists, hoteliers, youth associations, members of Tirupati Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) Tirupati chapter and the Institution of Engineers. We will finish the process soon”, V Vinaychand, Municipal Commissioner said.
The last date for holding consultations has been extended for a week from the earlier deadline of October end, keeping in mind the intervening holidays and events like Dussera, Tirumala Brahmotsavams and prime visits of VVIPs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was in Tirupati last week.
