India is gearing up for Christmas along with the world. With one of the most important festivals only three days away, Vijayawada is leaving no stone not turned to make X Mas a grand celebration. To this effect, the churches and Christian households have already started celebrating in the city with carols, pre-Christmas celebrations, Secret Santa and exchanging gifts.
Churches belonging to various denominations in the city are busy with the respective thematic decorations, including the universally prevalent special holy cribs and the Christmas tree. Various colleges and schools are almost done with the pre- Christmas celebrations and holidays have been announced to the students.
Churches of various congregations in Vijayawada, including St. Peter’s Cathedral, St. Paul’s Ca-thedral, Gundala Matha Shrine, St. Lutheran’s Church, St Paul’s Centenary Church, will witness thousands of Christians visiting on the eve of Christmas and also the traditional midnight Mass.
The shopping frenzy for the Christmas festival had also reached its peak with people buying clothes and gifts at prime market places like Besant Road, MG Road and shopping malls across the city.
Christmas trees and cribs has been picked up among households and restaurants. There are colorful stars that have lit up atop many homes.
