The Andhra Pradesh Government has effective strategies in place to mitigate drought this summer. As part of the drought preparedness and mitigation plan for this summer, proposals are afoot to use ‘Mobile Lift Project ’ to provide water to drought affected areas.
A presentation was made by the officials on the use of Mobile Lift project in the review meeting held on Polavaram.
A pipeline network will be installed to lift water from Rivers, Canals or any Surface Water Bodies. It will help in lifting of water from one place to another by pumping during this summer to mitigate drought.
Pumps operated either by electrical power or by diesel operated system will be used for this Mobile Lift project.
It is decided to take up this project on a pilot basis in the districts of Ananathapur and Kurnool.
Each unit of the Mobile Lift project will cost nearly 1.5 cores and can pump a capacity of 1.4 cusecs of water. The pumped water can travel a length of about 4 kilometers.
