CM Sri Chandrababu Naidu is universally reckoned for his choices with workforce. Mr Naidu is often seen relying on the creme of talent while running his administration. Adding to the list now is the coveted alumni of Indian School of Business (ISB).
The state government of Andhra Pradesh has now started hiring the top executives from ISB, who will be lined up and called as the ‘Chief Minister Fellows’.
Vision 2022 and 2029
These fellows from ISB will be actively involved in strategic planning and performance management and all the areas of state policy program. The executives will conceptualize and execute research, monitoring and evaluation that is required to make AP one of the top three states of India by the year 2022.
The aim is also to make the state the best in the country by the year 2029.
Andhra Pradesh, the new sunrise state aspires to become a leading investment destination by 2050. To this effect, the government has made 11 offers to students of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management, from the Class of 2016 already. These placements are ongoing now at the world’s best premier management school.
It has to be reminded that it was Mr Chandrababu Naidu who played a key role in setting up ISB while serving as the CM of the then united Andhra Pradesh. Time has come for him to look at the same institute towards the talent tapping process for the new state.
Expectations from the Chief Minister Fellows
The Fellows are clearly expected to have an understanding of the following
Increasing complexity of development processes
Effective decision-making for positive transformation
Equipped to address the plan for higher quality of education in AP
Strategies to improvise child nutrition
Plans that reduce maternal mortality and strengthen rural development
Creating livelihood opportunities
ISB has been seeing a huge demand for its PGP professionals from various companies. This time around, both the large corporates as well as Startups went head to head to fetch the ISB talent in Hyderabad and Mohali, resulting in an all-time high in the number of offers made that stand at 1,093.
Some of the top recruiters of ISB continue to remain the world’s tier 1 players. This elite list includes names like McKinsey, Boston consulting Group, EY, Deloitte and KPMG. They do 19 percent of the offers on a standard rate. Other players into technology and the related services such as HCL, Microsoft, Apple Inc., Tech Mahindra etc. make offers to the other 11 percent of the class every year.
E-commerce companies are also joining the bandwagon. Leading giants like Amazon and Flipkart have reportedly made a total of 109 offers so far, constituting 10 percent of the total offers till date.
AP adding to the list only speaks about the credibility of the talent available at ISB.
