Chief Minister Sri N Chandrababu Naidu recently had a meeting with Ravindher Guptha, General Manager, South Central and Ashok Kumar, Divisional Manager in Vijayawada Office. During this meeting, the CM highlighted the need for more railways lines to and from the state.
Emphasising that his aim is to make Andhra Pradesh the logistics hub, the Chief Minister suggested that an additional dedicated railway line should be established apart from the existing Visakhapatnam-Chennai line. The CM and the visiting delegates spent a significant amount of time, discussing the existing rail networks and better possibilities.
During this meeting, Mr Naidu also stressed on the need for completion of pending railway projects in the state. He elaborated that Andhra Pradesh will have two industrial corridors, three nodes and two manufacturing zones and added that these zones will require better railway connectivity.
Further, he added that there is dire need to establish rail connectivity between Amaravati and Rayalseema region leading to Bangalore.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also requested the South Central Railways to handover Rajamahendravaram’s Havelock Bridge to the state government. That way, the Chief Minister said, the government would revamp the bridge and make it a landmark bridge for the district.
