After attaining global recognition as one of the topmost universities, Andhra University continues to shine on. Adding to the list is the recent award from the National Assessment and Accreditation Committee (NAAC). The varsity has been honored with a A Grade, with a score of 3.6.
AU now stands second only after Jadavpur Universities among all the state universities and 4th among the varsities in the country. JNU and HCU continue to the lead in the front.
This is also the third consecutive time that AU has received A -Grade. Seven criteria were taken into consideration in totality for grading purposes. However, it must be pointed out that AU’s score did slip a notch in terms of points as it had previously scored 3.65 out of 4.
Celebrating the fete on Saturday, HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao stated that the NAAC committee had also made certain recommendations such as incorporation of travel, tourism and hospital management courses and courses in missile technology. According to the minister, NAAC also suggests that the teachers at AU must be taught to use ICT techniques for teaching, establishment of finishing institute to promote employability skills, strengthening of attached campuses with reference to infrastructure and teaching facilities, and promoting institutional collaboration both at the national and international level.
