Amaravati Metro Rail will conduct a special study for extending the rail line from Singhnagar to Autonagar and route number five along Amaravati. This has been confirmed by N. Ramakrishna Reddy, Managing Director of Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
The MD of Metro Rail took part in an awareness meeting along with other officials of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) here on Sunday. Mr Reddy stated that the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has asked the Metro team to extend the rail facility for Singhnagar-Autonagar stretch along with Amaravati proposal.
The rail official confirmed that 12 stations would be constructed along Mahatma Gandhi Road and Eluru Road corridors and stations will come up every 1.2 kilometers. Close to 20 services are expected to run in each corridor with an automatic system in place.
Koneru Sridhar, the Mayor, had asked the metro rail officials to provide one corridor in the west constituency limits. Commissioner G. Veerapandyan, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Director S.D. Sharma and several officials were also present during this meeting.
