All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament Kicks Off In Kakinada

Kakinada is filled with an air of sportsmanship as the All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament-2015 was officially inaugurated. The tournament was officially kickstarted at the JNTUK Stadium in Kakinada on Tuesday.

The tournament will go on for five days, with players from all the 29 States participating in the series. MLC Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao jump started the tournament in the presence of Kakinada Rural MLA Pilli Anantalakshmi, Additional SP R. Damodar and several badminton players form different parts of the country.

Praising the efforts of the East Godavari Badminton Association (EGBA) that pushed for hosting a national event in Kakinada, MLA Anantalakshmi wished that many more sport events of national importance shall soon be conducted in the city in future.

T Narayana Reddy, President of EGBA and Organising Secretary said that qualifying matches will be held during the initial two days and the main draw would be held from October 8th.

He thanked all the sponsors and said that a sum of Rs. 10 lakh would be presented to winners as prize money.
