The Mangalagiri town, which flaunts AIIMS and other institutions, has further got an airport, under the primary master plan of the new capital. Ancient Mangalagiri which is world famous for cotton products is going to become the main center of the new capital in the future. Recently, a US based PI Data Center started its works to construct south Indian PI Data Center at Mangalagiri and further the police department is going to construct its headquarters in the town.
Pilgrims from Andhra, Telangana, Tamilnadu and other states in large numbers visit to the hilltop ancient Panakala Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple at Mangalagiri. A proposed airport would be helpful for them.
Mangalagiri is situated on the NH-5 between Vijayawada and Guntur, fully equipped with rail and road connectivity. The proposed airport is going to switch the Mangalagiri town into a business center. The capital region limit starts from Mangalagiri’s Y junction and there is a direct road connectivity to Tullur. Further, the proposed new railway line to Tullur would connect Mangalagiri. The cotton of the Mangalagiri is world famous and has a GI tag. Cotton trader from Mangalagiri, K. Bhardwaj said that AIIMS, airport and other institutions would switch this town into a mega city in the future and it would further boost Mangalagiri cotton business.
