A dedicated freight corridor, national waterway, future urban agriculture land zone, agriculture protection zones, airport, high speed rail connectivity, regional express way, outer regional express way, and capital bypass are proposed in the primary first phase new capital plan. The state government is giving importance for connectivity to new capital from all over the state including connectivity to ports in the new capital plan. Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu received the capital plan first phase copy in the present Singapore visit and the Singaporeans will complete the second phase plan by June this year.

The new capital plan prepared to fulfil the requirements of 50 lakh population in the future in 7325 square km area of the capital region. According to the primary plan, the lands of Amaravati, Tadikonda and Medikonduru Mandals are reserved for future urban purposes. Entire Vijayawada city including Gannavaram, Nuzvid, Nandigama and Gudivada of Krishna district are proposed urbanized areas. Similarly, Tenali, Mangalagiri, Guntur, Sattenapalli and proposed new capital Tullur areas are proposed urbanized areas of the Guntur district.


Industrial zones were proposed in Guntur, Mangalagiri, capital Tullur, Sattenapalli and Nizampatnam of Guntur district and Nandigama, Kondapalli, Gannavaram, Nuzvid and Pamarru of Krishna district. The airport is newly proposed at Mangalagiri of Guntur district with the present Gannavaram airport of Krishna district.

As many as seven development corridors were proposed under which first developmental corridor was proposed at Nandigama connecting Hyderabad from NH-9, second corridor from Machilipatnam port to Vishakapatnam connecting Pamarru and other areas and third corridor from Gudivada to Vishakapatnam.


The fourth development corridor will start from Mangalagiri connecting Guntur, Chilakaluripeta through NH-5 to Chennai, fifth corridor would start at Nizampatnam port connecting Tenali and other areas up to Vijayawada. The sixth development corridor is import corridor which starts from new capital Tullur connecting Amaravati with a junction at Sattenapalli to go Hyderabad, Kurnool and Bangalore. The seventh development corridor proposed from Nuzvid to connect NH221 to Raipur.


The national waterway-4 is proposed from Kakinada to Pondicherry via Vijayawada. A direct bypass road to new capital Tullur proposed from Hanuman junction connecting Vijayawada bypass road.  A direct beach road is proposed from Machilipatnam port to Vodarevu port connecting Nizampatnam port. Two dedicated freight corridors were proposed Tenali to Vishakapatnam via Guntur and Guntur to Pondicherry via Chilakaluripeta.


Telugu Desam district president, GV Anjaneyulu and other leaders welcoming the plan said that new capital would become world’s favourite trade and business center further providing employment to the public and developing the state due to connectivity and infrastructure.
