After Vizag, It’s The Turn of Vizianagaram

Shortly after Vizag was lit up, it is now Vizianagaram’s turn to glow in low cost. LED bulb distribution program was conducted at the Fort junction of Vizianagaram yesterday. The pilot project that has been launched by the Minister for Rural Development, Kimidi Mrunalini aims at Anantapur, Guntur, Srikakulam and West Godavari districts.

Approximately 10 Lakh bulbs will be distributed to all the domestic consumers in Vzianagaram. The aim is to distribute as many as 57 Lakh LED bulbs of 7W capacity across the targeted districts.

Minister Kimidi Mrunalini urged the power consumers to use LED bulbs and thereby save power for the well being of the nation.

There are more appeals incoming from the people hailing from Krishna, Prakasam and Chittoor districts. Plans are on in the second phase where two bulbs of 9W capacity will be distributed in these districts.

The minister for rural development said that Andhra Pradesh ranked first post the distribution of 60 lakh LED bulbs, as against the 1.86 crore bulbs that were distributed by sum total of other States in the whole of India.

“In Vizianagaram, two bulbs of 9W capacity were being distributed through 108 outlets to 5, 07, 894 domestic consumers and in the remaining two districts under EPDCL the distribution will be completed in the next two months,” Revu Mutyala Raju, CMD, APEPDCL shared while speaking to the media.

He also confirmed that close to 26 lakh bulbs were distributed in both Srikakulam and West Godavari.
