As planned, the admissions for IIM Visakhapatnam open as the maiden batch of PGP program 2015 – 2017 begins from August 15th with a class strength of 60.
“We are on track and the modalities to begin academic session at IIM V on time are finalized. The class size for PGP 2015-17 batch at IIM V would be around 60 students and the academic session at IIM V would begin as scheduled in the month of August”, said Kavitha Kumar, Head of Communications at IIM Bangalore, who is also the mentor for IIM Vizag.
Though nothing was divulged with respect to the shortlisting criteria and other weighing factors, the mentor added that more information will be revealed as the plans advance in the coming months. Faculty from IIM B will closely mentor and monitor all the activities at the new IIM V campus till the latter gets self sustained and moves into a proper campus setting in terms of environment and administration. This means that the pilot batches of IIM V will be directly exposed to the expertise of IIM B faculty, setting the initial prime standards.
The overall quality, design and the delivery module of PGP will be same as that of IIM Bangalore. IIM Visakhapatnam is the second out of the six new IIM s proposed whose first academic PGP batch for the year 2015 will commence on time.
The initial operations of the new IIM V will start off at the shared temporary campus space allotted at the Andhra University. The sessions will be ongoing until the new 300 acre campus of IIM Visakhapatnam gets ready.
