If you thought that performing sacred rituals was the only main thing in the itinerary, there is more. As part of promoting the art and cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh, various interactive events have been organised this year that pilgrims can look forward to.

Here are Six Interesting Events That You Simply Cannot Miss During The Godavari Mahapushkaram This Year.

1. Sky Lanterns Festival (Akasa Deepalu)

Date: 13 July
Time: 7:30 PM

Place: RajahmundryThe sky lantern festival will be held at Road cum Rail bridge in Rajahmundry. Over 5000 sky lanterns will be launched into the air over Godavari where the Jyothis (lanterns) float gracefully through the sky. Their reflections on river Godavari shall resemble large flocks of giant fluorescent jellyfish beautifully treading the waters.

2. Sand Art Festival

Date: 14 July
Time: 7 AM to 8 PM
Place: Narsapuram

Sand Art festival shall be organized by APTDC on the banks of River Godavari at Madhavaya Palem, Narsapuram showcasing different mythological themes.

3. Food Festival

Date: 13 July
Time: 7 AM to 8 PM

Place: RajahmundryA mega food festival with Andhra, Godavari and Rayalaseema Cuisine will be organized at the premises of Government Arts College, Rajahmundry.

4. Prabhalu Festival

Time: 7 AM to 7 PM
Place: Kotipalli

Prabhalu are specially decorated arches with lord shiva’s replicas made with bamboo sticks and new clothes. They will be organized at Kotipalli (K Gangavaram Manadal) in East Godavari Distrcit from 7AM to 7PM
5. Flower and Horticulture Show

Date: 13 July – 25 July
Time:7 AM – 8 PM
Place: Rajahmundry

A mega flower and horticulture show will be organized at Arts College premises in Rajahmundry showcasing beautiful nurseries of Kadiyam from 7AM to 8PM daily between July 13, 2015 to July 25, 2015.

6. Laser Show

Date: July 13 – July 25

Place: RajahmundryA mega Laser show with Godavari Mahapushkaram themes will be organized on Havelock Bridge at Rajahmundry. Pilgrims can enjoy the laser show in the evenings from both sides of the river.

The inaugural show (on July 13, 2015) is scheduled to last 20 minutes. From July 14 to July 24, the laser show will be presented 3 times a day, each show lasting 13 minutes. On July 25, 2015 on the occasion of the closing ceremony the show is scheduled to last 20 minutes similar to the inaugural show.
