Fulfilling the government’s recent decision to issue 11 lakh ration cards, 25000 submissions from Vizianagaram district will be addressed soon. To this effect, ration cards will be issued in a couple of months from now. Inclusion of new names of family members as appealed by 15000 people will also be addressed simultaneously. The update has been officially confirmed by Kimidi Mrunalini, Minister for Rural Development.
The minister recently reviewed the welfare activities in SC and BC Corporations and Social and Tribal Welfare Departments. She looked into the lapses by the LPG dealers towards the ‘Deepam’ beneficiaries. She had directed these beneficiaries not to pay more than Rs. 890 to the dealers for each connection. This includes cylinder, tube and regulator. “The decision to buy stove or not is left to the beneficiary” she said, while speaking to the media.
Ms Mrunalini also revisited the status on paddy procurement. She stated that 2.57lakh MT would be procured this year through the 150 purchasing centres, as against the last year’s target of 2.80lakh MT. She also said that the DWCRA groups earned Rs. 6 crore last year while manning the centers, and added that training would be imparted to them for two weeks on evaluation of permissible moisture of 13 – 14 per cent in paddy.
The Minister and the team have major plans during the oncoming Karthika Vanamahotsavam to begin from November 25th. Students of various educational institutions will be actively roped in to plant as many as saplings as possible to achieve the target of 1 crore in the district.
