Concrete plans are now on to make the Rail Over Bridges project happen in Chittoor. The railway ministry of India has now sanctioned the RoB project at both Sugar factory and Murakambattu in the city. This update was confirmed to the media by MP N Siva Prasad, who also added that both the locations fall on the busy national highway of Tirupati to Bengaluru and the project worth 220 Cr rupees will go operational soon.
Prasad spoke to the media while inaugurating the ‘Washable Apron’ facility at the Chittoor Railway Station, along with Guntakal Divisional Railway Manager Gopinath Mallya and other senior railway officials and local leaders.
The rail over bridges will actually play an important role in tackling the constant traffic jams at these two prime locations.
“However, due to technical problems, the third RoB proposal at Mechanical Grounds is at present kept in abeyance, and this also would be pursued,” Prasad said, while sharing the update.
The proposal for double line formation between Katpadi and Tirupati has also been sanctioned, and works would soon commence.
