One of the most prestigious drama festivals of the country, the 14th Nandi Natakotsavam of Rajahmundry kicked off on 16th May. The festivals have been organized by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh to encourage and lift the face of Andhra theaters and various talented artists hailing from the region.

Interestingly, this is the first kick off post state bifurcation last year.

Anam Kalakendra will be the venue for this year’s drama competitions held from 16th May 2015 to 31st May 2015. The fifteen day visual feast will see as many as 2500 participants taking part in 84 stage shows. The awards for best performances will be presented by the State Government on the closing day, 01 June 2015.

The Kalakendra has been fully refurbished and equipped with air condioning and facilities with the support of State Government, local contributors and large corporate brands like ONGC, GAIL and Reliance. The latest equipment in technology with better visuals and sound will enhance the experience for art revelers and patrons.

All the efforts are being made to revive the sinking art of dance, drama and skit. Hopes are on to attract more applause and attention to the field by way of such large scale competitions. The fact that Natakotsavams have kicked off right before the onset of Godavari Maha Pushkaralu to be held in July adds more spirit and flavor to the cause.
