29th June 2015 turned out to be a landmark day for Air Costa, leading regional airline operating 32 daily flights across 9 main cities. The airline celebrated its millionth passenger on board at the Bengaluru International Airport. The millionth passenger flew on flight no LB693 from Bengaluru to Hyderabad sector of the scheduled departure from Bengaluru at 10 45 am.
The team of Air Costa gave its millionth passenger a rather warm surprise, presenting a huge boarding card at the check in counter and offering complimentary snacks to all the passengers on board.
The air liner representing core pride of Andhra by origin, comprises fleet of four aircraft; two Embraer E170 with 67 seats and two E190 with 112 seats. The air line carrier has a current market share of 0.9%
Speaking on the happy occasion, Capt K N Babu, CEO, Air Costa shared, “We are excited on achieving the first milestone of flying one million passengers and firmly believe to achieve greater success moving further. It is Air Costa’s way of making our guests feel special and we thank them for making us what we are today”, he said.
The airline plans to focus extensively on enhancing connectivity between tier II and tier III cities in India and has recently announced an investment of 150 million dollars by 2015. The airline also plans to set up an aircraft maintenance and repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the Vijayawada Airport. It currently has a maintenance centre at the Chennai International Airport.
