The booking system for Tirumala Balaji’s sacred Darshan had seen constant changes in terms of administration and execution. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has always ensured complying with the latest and evolving technology, providing easy booking options. However, the growing traffic to one of the world’s great pilgrim destinations is proving to be a soaring challenge for the officials, despite implementing a robust online portal.
The category that attracts more traction is the Rs 300 Special Entry Darshan. In the recent times, managing this section had become next to impossible, with more pilgrims opting for special Darshan than other Sevas.
The 300 Rs Special Darshan pilgrims can now heave a sigh of relief. Devotees can now on book Rs. 300 special entry tickets over their mobile phones for the Darshan of Lord Venkateswara. The plain mission of TTD implementing this move is to reduce hassles and enable the devotees to have a better access to tickets, which are currently available on the internet, select post offices and TTD-run ‘e-darshan’ counters.
TTD Executive Officer Dr. D. Sambasiva Rao spoke to the media on Sunday and said the management had requested Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to develop a new application to suit the requirements of devotees from across the globe.
