The royally divine three day annual Jyesthabhishekam began in Tirumala today. The ceremony was commenced in the main shrine of Srivari Temple.
Every year, the holy dieties of procession, Lord Malayappa along with his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi are taken to the special podium of Sampangi Prakaram. This is done after the second Archana and bell at around 7 AM. The special Mahashanti Homam was performed by the in house temple priests carried out along with the Vedic chants for an hour. The coolorful ritual called Satakalasa Tirumanjanam was also followed with a celestial bath that is done in a holy dip of water filled in 1000 silver pots. This was carried out between 9 AM and 11 AM.
Jyesthabhishekam is usually done once in a year for three days during the Jyestha Masam. The festival is celebrated and reverred to pray for the longevity of Utsavarulu icons.
Vasanthotsavam and Vishesha Puja were cancelled this time after the commencement of the ritual. The idol of Lord Malayappa Swamy is adorned with a gold armor called Vajra Kavacham studded with diamonds and other precious stones.The ritual was followed with a beautiful Sahasra Deepalankara Seva.
The ritual was performed in front of several devotees inside the temple and few important personalities like Dr Ch Krishnamoorthy (Chairman, TTD), Dr Sambasiva Rao (EO, TTD), Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju (JEO) and other important members of the Board Trust.
