The Visakha Utsav that will span over three days will commence today in Visakhapatnam. A whole lot of programs have been lined up for the event which include flower show, cultural programs etc. Except for the flower show that will be held in VUDA park at the site of MGM Park, the venue for all the events would be the beach road.
The beach road being the main venue has been bedecked with colored lights. The whole area boasts of a celebratory mood, thanks to the frenzied preparations for the much awaited Utsav.
Visakha Utsav will be inaugurated at 5 p.m. by the Union Minister of Urban Development, Mr. M Venkaiah Naidu. The other guests who are expected to participate in the inaugural event include Culture Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Panchayat Raj Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao and Y. Sujana Chowdhary, the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology.
The flower show, which has been named “Parimala” and has been designed on the theme of the new capital of the state, Amaravati will be inaugurated today morning. All the arrangements for this show were duly inspected by T. Baburao Naidu, the Vice Chairman of VUDA and Ganta Srinivasa Rao, the HRD Minister.
The beautiful and mesmerizing voices of the city will be showcased at “Vedika” and “Sannidhanam” would be the venue where the religious traditions of the state can be seen.
A variety of programs have been scheduled to entertain the citizens of the city. Singers Baba Sehgal and Shibani Kashyap are all set to woo the audience on the first day of the show. For the second day, Karunya, Kalpana, Geeta Madhuri and Srikrishna have been roped in along with the Carnatic rock fusion band by Karthik and his team. The third day will see the live-in performance of Devi Sri Prasad.
The Regional Manager of RTC, Mr. Sudesh Kumar stated that in order to ensure that people can get to the venues with ease, special buses have been arranged that will from Lankelapalem, Tagarapuvalasa, Madhurawada, Parawada, Scindia, Gajuwaka, Kurmannapalem, Simhachalam, Kottavalasa, Pendurti, Sabbavaram and Chodavaram. These buses will operate from Friday to Sunday and will go to and fro up to 9:30 p.m. The people can find these buses at the special counters that have been erected for the purpose at RK Beach.
The District Collector Praveen Kumar inspected the venue with his officials yesterday and informed that the city is totally prepared to make this event a huge success. According to him, the highlight of this utsav is surely going to be the kite flying fest. He further stated that this event will also prove to be a platform for the local artistes to showcase their skills.
