The great success at Rio Olympics by PV Sindhu has made the nation proud. Young ace shuttler who has been honed by none other than Pullela Gopichand is a staunch believer of God. Sindhu vowed to offer 68 kgs of jaggery to Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala before leaving for the Olympics. Now, she is back to keep her promise.
Sindhu visited Tirumala on Sunday to offer her prayers. She was accompanied by her mentor and coach, Gopichand. The duo sought Lord’s Darshan through the VIP Break category.
Here, the champ performed ‘Tulabharam’, the famous practice of sitting on a balance and offering something to the Lord by weighing it against one’s own weight. She has offered the amount of jaggery as per her weight to Lord Venkateswara, as thanksgiving.
Gopichand also tonsured his head, apparently to fulfill his vow. Sindhu also prayed at the Tiruchanur Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple on Saturday night before reaching Tirumala.
