The nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at the Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple was wrapped with the Chakrasnanam being performed on the processional deity and his series of consorts (Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy) yesterday.
The idol of Sudarshana Chakratalwar was later immersed into the sacred waters of the Swamy Pushkarini. The temple in Appalayagunta, barely 20 kms away from Tirupati, witnessed an impressive turnout of devotees in the wee-morning hours.
Notable persons to have made their presence felt at the ritual included the Tirupati JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar, Spl Gr DyEO Smt Chenchu Lakshmi, AEO Sri Nagarathna, Suptd Sri Pavan Kumar in addition to the temple staff.
The Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple earns much of its significance as being the place to have had the Lord Venkateswara bless the union of Sri Siddeshwara and other sages on the event of his marriage. Being a site where he had married Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru, the Lord’s avatar here, in coherence to the name, is believed to be in one of his most generous, ever.
