Ashok Kumar, the Divisional Manager at South Central Railway Vijayawada confirmed that Indian Railways is now planning to install as many as 200 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) for the ease of passengers at all railway stations, including Vijayawada.
SCR had earmarked a budget of INR 133.46 Cr this year to improve passenger amenities. As part of the initiative, ATVMs will be installed at the Railway Station of Vijayawada along with other parts of Andhra Pradesh and the country.
So far, 70 ATVMs have been commissioned across 26 sub urban stations. 112 machines are already installed across 48 railway stations by South Central Railway zone.
Other than the vending ticket machines, plans are also on to increase the number of bio toilets in all the railway stations of the country. Mr Kumar also confirmed that SCR had already made gross earnings of INR 5449.25 Cr during the time frame of April to July in the current year.
