Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri N Chandrababu Naidu had lately laid the foundation stone for the next E3 division of SAMEER (Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research) in Visakhapatnam. Mr Naidu believes that SAMEER will cement AP’s emergence as India’s Electronics Hub soon.
SAMEER is an autonomous R&D institution under the Department of Electronics and Information and Technology (DEITY), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT). The next permanent building of SAMEER will be constructed in an area of 15 acres in Gambhiram village in Anandapuram mandal of Visakhapatnam district.
MR Naidu is glad after he heard that the Centre is also considering his request to set up IT Investment Region (ITIR) in Andhra Pradesh. This will boost AP’s spot in Electronics and mobile manufacturing.
CM stated that in the Electronics sector alone, the aim is to attract $5 billion worth of investment in electronics systems design and manufacturing (ESDM) by 2020 and generate employment for 400,000 people.
As part of our Electronics Policy, a Centre for Excellence in the design of fables semiconductors in partnership with industry and academic institutes is also in the offing.
“This event has cemented AP’s position as Electronics manufacturing hub in the country. I’m confident that many such projects which are in the state will soon make it the best state in India” says Mr Naidu.
