What was in the talks is now taking a concrete shape. Vehicle giant Ashok Leyland is all set to establish a new manufacturing facility in Visakhapatnam. The Chennai based leading manufacturer is soon going to kick start its new operations from the state.
Setting up a plant in AP will largely reduce costs on freight and logistics, also settling various matters related to inventory and the growing demand. The new is expected to provide direct employment to over 1,000 people.
The company officials have affirmed that Leyland is actively looking to collaborate with state governments that are progressive in thinking and approach. AP’s recent ranking by the World Bank and no 2 in Ease of Doing Business has also put the state on the map of potential investors. Andhra is definitely one of the most sought after destination for several players in the industrial sector.
The best part is that AP govt is aggressive in calling out to the investors and promoting availability of local skill.
As of now, Ashok Leyland has five facilities in India – Pantnagar, Alwar, Bhandara, Hosur and Ennore. The company has overseas facilities in the Middle East and the UK. The giant is net looking at setting up assembling facilities in the countries like Kenya, Dammam, Saudi and Ivory Coastland.
